Christ Plays In Ten Thousand Places; A Conversation In Spiritual Theology
by Eugene Peterson
I have really grown to love the writing of Eugene Peterson. He is probably more known today for his work The Message, his monumental work of a paraphrase of Scripture. Peterson is a true word-smith, a crafter of words. His penetrating insight and personal touch founded on a solid theology and extensive understanding of Scripture have been very inspiring for me.
One Nation Under God: A History of Prayer in America
by James P. Moore, jr
This book is written from more of a historical summery rather than a devotional slant - but I have thoroughly enjoyed the anecdotal accounts and historical perspective of the place and importance of prayer in our nations history. It's hard to read this and not think of how far away we have moved from our Christian and spiritual roots.
Organic Disciplemaking: A New Testament Pattern of Mentoring Others Into Spiritual Maturity and Leadership
by Dennis McCullum & Jessica Lowery
This book is written by a father and daughter team. Dennis is co-founding pastor of a large home-church fellowship in Columbus, Ohio. They speak with refreshing candor and wisdom that only comes from the trenches of extensive experience. I have found the book to be intensely practical and very far sighted.
